TfGM response to my most recent letter regarding reductions and changes in 181, 182 and 59 bus services

As these are all commercial services delivered by First Bus there is little TfGM can do – see above letter.

I will continue to speak out to maintain these and other services so those without cars or those who cannot walk to the tram stop can make the journeys they need when they need.

I live on manor road and work on elk Mill retail park. The 182 and 181 in particular are becoming a joke! They rarely turn up on time which means if I don’t set off an hour before I need to, I’ll be late and this affects at least 4 others who work on the retail park as we’re usually waiting at the same bus stop!

And don’t forget the 408 – it has been rescheduled and is causing inconvenience as it arrives at the same time as the 403 which effectively means High Crompton just has an hourly bus service now ……

Hi, the 07.30am 59 bus leaving from Rushcroft has failed to turn up on 3 occasions in 1 calendar month from September to October. My 12 year old son has had 3 late marks because the 8am bus does not arrive in Oldham in time. The bus is not late it’s not arriving at all and they said a mechanical failure caused one incident but have failed to notify myself of why the other two failed to turn up. First bus is a joke and how can they justify cutting a service by 50% and then fail to provide an efficient service in peak time travel.
