Shaw and Crompton Liberal Democrat Councillors are disappointed that Asda have proceeded to appeal their plans for a petrol filling station.
This is despite the recommendation of Council Highways Officers that this development is unsafe, and the strong objections of local residents in relation to traffic congestion as well as the concerns of residents living directly opposite the proposed site who’s right to a peaceful life will undoubtedly be disrupted by a petrol station literally on the doorstep of the terraced houses.
Absolutely no need for it, asda will probably bully and buy their way into it being passed. The residents have a right to refuse it. The site is too small to even consider it. We do not need another petrol station.
Thanks for your comments.
There could be a minimum of disruption depending on the access of the station, and why you would think there would be more intrusion on the lives of the house surrounding asda.
I would rather live on greenfield lane than beal lane and there is far more heavy traffic 24 hours a day!
Shaw needs competition against the high prices Shell gets away with.
Agree re competition but not where they are suggesting.
This development would be totally in the wrong place – too close to homes for both a fire risk and the volume of traffic accessing it at all hours.
We need a new health centre not a petrol station there will be to much traffic build up definately no to petrol station.
Agree 100%
