New TfGM active travel grants now available

TfGM have announced a funding pot for small businesses/community groups/education providers. Deadline to apply is 21st July.

The £535k Active Travel grants programme, funded through the DfT and Active Travel England Capability and Ambition Fund, which will support the principals and aims of GM’s refreshed active travel mission.

This grant programme will help local businesses and organisations achieve a culture-shift on operational and business travel and logistics to reduce lorry and van travel in urban areas, to expand and diversify the range and availability of cycles available to the community to increase the opportunity for older and disabled people to cycle and provide opportunities for communities to implement solutions that address specific needs within their local area.

Grants are available to the following audiences within Greater Manchester:

  • Small businesses, including sole traders and co-ops
  • VCS or community organisations, including:
    • voluntary or community groups and organisations
    • not-for-profit companies
    • community interest companies (CIC) or other social enterprises
    • registered charities
  • Education providers, including:
    • primary and Secondary schools
    • further and higher education providers
  • NHS Healthcare providers, including:
    • NHS Trusts
    • GP Practices

They have funding available for three measures:

  • Cargo cycle solutions – Grants up to £10,000
  • Adaptive cycle solutions – Grants up to £10,000
  • Community cycling, walking and wheeling projects – Grants up to £2,500
  • Applicants can bid for one or more of the measures offered. This can be either up to the maximum grant for an individual measure, or up to a combined total of £15,000.

The application window will close on Friday 21st July.
