Changes to 408 bus service – effective 28 April

Service 408 (Oldham – Royton – Shaw – Buckstones)

People may recall that peak journeys were removed on this service in January 2018 because at that time their cost of operation could not be justified was the reason given.

I have raised this issue on a number of occasions.

I am now pleased to report the re-introduction of peak journeys on this service.

This will come at a cost but this will now be covered by savings achieved on changes to the 149/406 services.

Usage south of Oldham is low with Glodwick Road and Abbeyhills Road covered by service 425.  So the service will now terminate in Oldham.

GOOD NEWS – ANOTHER PROPOSED CHANGE TO THE SUBSIDISED 408 SERVICE

In addition to the above changes the evening and Sunday service is to be revised to match the Monday to Saturday service – ie providing an hourly all day service running between Oldham and Shaw only.
