What’s so special about the Bumblebee?  Did you know that Bumblebees have smelly feet?  What’s Buzz Pollination? Bumblebees don’t swarm and are not aggressive.

Scientists from The Moors for the Future Partnership have asked Friends of Crompton Moor to help them log three species of bumblebee.

WHEN: Saturday, 23 April 2016 from 10:30 to 14:30.

WHERE: Shore Edge Methodist Church, Buckstones Road, Shaw, Oldham OL2 8LS.

This training event will incorporate a presentation on bumblebee ID with a focus on three species that are the targets of long-term surveys, along with methods to survey those bees. Following the presentation will be an outdoor session along a bumblebee transect on Crompton Moor, where we will practice the methods described and ID some bees in the field.

This event is aimed at beginners, or those who have attended training in previous years who would like to refresh their knowledge and skills.
