St Paul’s road closure – update 29 March

Shaw District Centre – Rochdale Road Diversion Routes

There are two diversion routes in place, one for daytime (8am – 8pm) and one nightime (8pm – 8am)

Day time Diversion 8am – 8pm – Beal Lane, Grains Road, Hillside Avenue, Buckstones Road, Milnrow Road, Crompton Way – in both directions.

Evening Diversion 8pm – 8am   (in bound) – High Street, Westway Rochdale Road, Beal Lane(out bound)- Beal Lane, Eastway, Greenfield Lane, High Street.

Hopefully this allows parking for many residents after 8pm, that was prevented before the post 8pm alternative route was agreed. The works are progressing and hopefully the road will be open in the next few weeks.

Its not great that the building has fallen into such disrepair that it fell down. But the road closure for me has been a bit of fresh air – quite literally. I’m not sure if you have been into Shaw lately, but you can notice the impact that the HGVs have on the area, since the closure there is far less traffic which makes it feel safer when walking around with small children, less noise, less pollution, and personally for me it feels like a much nicer town centre.

I’m not really expecting anything to come of this, but thought I would send this anyway.

Many thanks for this, and had similar comments from others.

The diversion routes mean the issues with HGVs have been displaced somewhat to area not usually impacted upon by them.
