Pencil Brook Culvert newsletter update January 19

Environment Agency update:

In the newsletter they did say that the additional liner in the school area would be completed in that week commencing 17th December.

Unfortunately they had a problem in trying to get the 5 tonne liner down the school access road and were unable to complete the work.

They had hoped that the pipework for the over pumping operation could have been removed prior to the Xmas break, but it has had to be left in place.

Their contractor returns next week and we would hope to complete the work shortly after that.

Countryside Volunteer Rangers Crompton Moor – Sunday 30 December

Last one of the year, another volunteering Sunday to help you lose those Christmas calories (!), so I hope you can join me in completing the drainage maintenance on the access road, as the maintenance carried out so far is working a treat.

The weather forecast for Sunday is light cloud and a gentle breeze, likely temperature of 9º/10º and 7 mph winds so ensure you have your favourite hot & or cold liquids, warm clothing, appropriate footwear and a packed lunch if you are up for the day – it may feel colder than it really is i.e. 8º.

If you have any issues that you may wish to discuss prior to Sunday, please do not hesitate to email (on either address) or text / phone me on 07961107860.

For those of you that have not already done so, please could you let me know if you intend to join us on the day.

I look forward to seeing you in the Crompton Moor Car Park from 10.30 onwards on Sunday. Thank you.

Kindest Regards – Edward John Fulton (aka Ed / Eddie). Countryside Volunteer Ranger, (Mob) 07961 107860 [Calls may be recorded], (Text) 07961 107860, (Fax)  01706 661813, (E)  edward@edwardjohnfulton.uk , (E) edward.fulton@btinternet.uk

Bins/recycling calendars update 19 Dec 2019

BELOW IS THE RESPONSE I HAVE NOW HAD FROM OLDHAM COUNCIL

“Unfortunately the company contracted to deliver the replacement recycling and waste collection calendars has failed to distribute large numbers.  This contract failure means that the Council will step in and ensure that all calendars are re printed, issued and delivered early in the new year.”

Pencil Brook Culvert Repairs – UPDATE December 2018

Environment Agency Update – Update on progress of repair works

The Valley (woods) – the replacement pipe (6 metres deep) is underway and progressing well. We expect to complete by the end of January. Reinstatement works to the footpaths and planting of trees will then follow in February.

Valley Rise to Rushcroft School – the planned lining work and repairs have been completed, but a section through the school area, passing under the access road was in much worse condition than thought. We have ordered another liner for this which will be installed during week commencing 17th December.

Smallbrook Road – we have carried out cleaning work to this culvert but there are issues with two United Utilities water mains which have been laid across the culvert, damaging it. Further repairs to the water mains have caused further damage to the culvert. At present this issue is with UU and Oldham Council to resolve.

Railway Culvert (from the car park to the River Beal) – debris clearance and repairs are in progress. Following debris clearance at the bottom end, it was revealed that there is no invert to the culvert over some 50 metres. We shall be replacing this with a concrete slab. This will be completed in January.

Timescales

  • Commence construction works early September 2018
  • Complete construction works in woods February 2019

Refuse/recycling calendars latest 13/12/18

Refuse/recycling calendars latest 13/12/18

Many, many thanks to the hundreds of people who have emailed me to let me know you; like me; have not received a refuse/recycling calendar for December 2018 and beyond.

What is now crystal clear is that thousands of people have not had one, but a lucky few have.

I am asking Oldham Council as a matter urgency to make sure they are delivered as soon as possible – as of yet I have no further details to share – but will continue to pursue.

Once again many thanks to all those who emailed me about this matter – much appreciated.

If you download R4GM from the App Store or Google Play it will let people know what day and which bins to put out for collection.
